Institutional Values & Best Practices
AK (PG) College is committed to upholding the highest institutional values and implementing best practices that contribute to holistic student development and societal welfare. These practices align with NAAC Criterion 7 (100 Marks) and reflect our dedication to creating a sustainable, inclusive, and value-based educational environment.
Our best practices span across six key areas: Green Campus Initiative, Gender Equity & Women Empowerment, Inclusive Education, Discipline & Code of Conduct, Community Engagement, and Cultural & National Values. 1. Green Campus Initiative
Environmental Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Practices
The college has implemented comprehensive green campus initiatives to promote environmental sustainability and create an eco-friendly learning environment. Located on 10 acres on the banks of the Lower Ganga Canal with natural greenery (Prospectus Page 3).
Solar Power System
Solar panels installed across campus providing renewable energy for hostels, administrative buildings, and common areas. 10 KV, 15 KV & 30 KV Kirloskar gensets available as backup (Prospectus Page 3).
RO Water Purification & Storage
Reverse Osmosis water purification plants installed at multiple locations ensuring clean drinking water. 40,000 gallon overhead tank for water storage facility (Prospectus Page 3).
Waste Management System
Segregation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste. Composting of organic waste for campus gardens. Sanitation Committee ensures cleanliness (Prospectus Page 26).
Tree Plantation & Natural Greenery
Regular tree plantation campaigns involving students, faculty, and community members. Campus located on banks of Lower Ganga Canal with natural greenery. Environment Committee chaired by Dr. B.K. Gupta (Prospectus Page 26).
Campus Cleanliness & Sanitation
Sanitation Committee (Chair: Shri Sunil Kumar) ensures regular cleaning and maintenance. Dedicated sanitation staff and student volunteer programs. CCTV surveillance for campus security (Prospectus Page 3 & 26).
Sustainable Infrastructure
100+ well-ventilated classrooms, 15+ laboratories, modern smart classrooms. 10 acres campus with natural surroundings on Ganga Canal banks (Prospectus Page 3).
2. Gender Equity & Women Empowerment
Creating a Safe and Inclusive Environment for Women
The institution is committed to gender equity through dedicated committees, safety measures, and empowerment programs for women students and staff. 20% horizontal reservation for women candidates (Prospectus Page 17).
Women Safety Committee
Active committee chaired by Dr. Geeta Yadav addressing safety concerns, conducting awareness programs, and ensuring secure campus environment. Part of 45+ institutional committees (Prospectus Page 24).
Women's Common Room
Dedicated space for female students with resting facilities, sanitary napkin vending machine, and counseling corner. Separate women's facilities available (Prospectus Page 3).
Gender Sensitization Programs
Regular workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on gender equality, women's rights, and prevention of harassment. Women Safety Committee organizes these programs.
20% Reservation for Women
Horizontal reservation of 20% for women candidates in all programs ensuring increased female participation in higher education as per government norms (Prospectus Page 17).
Girls Hostel Security
Separate girls hostel with CCTV surveillance, female warden, secure entry system, and 24/7 security personnel. Solar power system available in hostel (Prospectus Page 3).
Women's Safety Initiatives
Anti-harassment policies, internal complaints committee, emergency contact systems, and regular safety audits. Women Safety Committee ensures implementation (Prospectus Page 24).
3. Inclusive Education
Education for All Sections of Society
The college ensures inclusive education through comprehensive reservation policies, financial assistance, and support systems for marginalized communities. Established in 1916 to educate rural population (Prospectus Page 3 & 4).
Reservation Policy
Full implementation of UP Government reservation: SC (21%), ST (2%), OBC (27%), EWS (10%), and Divyangjan (3%) as per government norms. 20% horizontal reservation for women (Prospectus Page 17).
Book Bank Scheme
Economically weaker students deposit only 10% of book cost to access textbooks for the entire academic session. Students return books before receiving university examination admit card (Prospectus Page 3).
Student Aid Fund
Financial assistance for needy students covering books, clothing, medicines, and fee deficiency. Maximum 6 months tuition fee assistance. Transparent selection process (Prospectus Page 14).
Scholarship Support
Multiple government scholarships: SC/ST (Central & State), OBC, Merit, Freedom Fighter, Army, Ex-Servicemen, Loan Scholarships, and National Merit Scholarships. 75% attendance mandatory for scholarship (Prospectus Page 14 & 4).
Divyangjan Facilities
Special provisions for differently-abled students including medical certificate-based support (Chief Medical Officer certificate required) and accessible infrastructure. 3% reservation (Prospectus Page 17).
Rural Education Focus
Established in 1916 by Ahir Kshatriya Mahasabha to educate rural population. Located in Shikohabad to serve students from rural and urban regions. Degree College status since 1947 (Prospectus Page 3).
4. Discipline & Code of Conduct
Maintaining Institutional Discipline and Values
The institution maintains high standards of discipline through a comprehensive code of conduct, mandatory dress code, and strict anti-ragging measures. Proctorial Board ensures implementation (Prospectus Page 4, 15 & 24).
Mandatory Dress Code
Prescribed uniform for all students promoting equality and institutional identity. Different dress codes for regular students (white shirt, black pants, navy blue blazer) and student teachers (white shirt, navy blue pants, navy blue blazer). Specific dress code for B.Ed., B.T.C., B.P.Ed. students (Prospectus Page 4).
Anti-Ragging Policy
Strict anti-ragging measures with Proctorial Board oversight. Zero-tolerance policy with immediate action against violators. Ragging strictly prohibited as per UGC guidelines (Prospectus Page 15).
Proctorial Board
Senior faculty members appointed by Principal to maintain discipline across campus, hostels, and college premises. Chief Proctor: Prof. Sanjay Kumar Yadav. Also monitors student conduct in city (Prospectus Page 24).
75% Attendance Mandate
Minimum 75% attendance required for examination eligibility and scholarship continuation. Regular monitoring by departments. Attendance tracked through CIE system (Prospectus Page 4).
Anti-Drug & Anti-Smoking Policy
Complete prohibition of smoking, alcohol, and intoxicants on campus. Strict action against violators. Awareness programs on substance abuse prevention (Prospectus Page 15).
Code of Conduct Rules
Comprehensive 14-point code of conduct: timely attendance, discipline, vehicle parking rules, no posters without permission, identity card mandatory, no strikes, no discrimination, national day participation mandatory (Prospectus Page 15).
5. Community Engagement
Serving the Community Through Extension Activities
The college actively engages with the community through NCC, NSS, extension activities, and social service programs. NCC 5 U.P. Battalion established in campus in 2014 (Prospectus Page 3).
NCC 5 U.P. Battalion
Established in 2014, the NCC unit provides military training, leadership development, and community service opportunities. Located in college campus. Active under Prof. Jagdish Yadav (Prospectus Page 3).
NSS Volunteer Programs
National Service Scheme volunteers participate in community development, health camps, literacy drives, and environmental conservation. Students can choose NCC/NSS/Rovers-Rangers (Prospectus Page 4).
Scout & Guide (Rovers-Rangers)
Rovers-Rangers unit promoting outdoor skills, teamwork, and social responsibility among students. Program Officer: Shri Vijay Shankar. Activities integrated with B.Ed., B.T.C. programs (Prospectus Page 25).
Health Check-up Camps
Annual health camps providing free medical check-ups, eye testing, and health awareness for students and local community. Health and hygiene awareness programs.
IGNOU Study Centre (Code 27104)
Recognized IGNOU Study Centre offering 15+ distance education programs: BA (General & Honours), B.Com, MA (Hindi, English, Economics, Political Science, Sociology), M.Com, Rural Development, Tourism Management, and Certificate courses (CIT, CES, CRIG) (Prospectus Page 35).
Extension Activities
Community outreach programs, literacy drives, environmental awareness campaigns, and social service initiatives. Students participate through NCC, NSS, and Rovers-Rangers units.
6. Cultural & National Values
Promoting Indian Culture and National Integration
The institution celebrates national festivals and promotes cultural activities that instill values of patriotism and national integration. Cultural Programme Committee and Annual Magazine Committee ensure activities (Prospectus Page 24).
National Day Celebrations
Independence Day (August 15), Republic Day (January 26), Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), and Sardar Patel Jayanti (October 31) celebrated with full enthusiasm. Mandatory participation for all students (Prospectus Page 15).
Youth Festival
Annual youth festival featuring debates, poetry, cultural programs, sports competitions, and talent showcases. Youth Festival Committee exists under Cultural Programme Committee (Prospectus Page 24).
College Magazine "Sadhana"
Annual publication featuring student creative works, articles, poems, and achievements. Platform for literary expression. Annual Magazine Committee chaired by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Yadav (Prospectus Page 3 & 24).
Hindi Committee
Dedicated committee under Dr. Geeta Yadav promoting Hindi language through competitions, workshops, and publications. Part of 45+ institutional committees (Prospectus Page 24).
Anti-Terrorism Day
Observance of Anti-Terrorism Day with pledge-taking ceremonies and awareness programs promoting peace and harmony. Students participate in pledge ceremonies (Prospectus Page 15).
Cultural Activities & Events
Debate competitions, poetry recitation, cultural programs, Kavi Sammelan, and Nishedh & Kavita competitions. Student contributions published in "Sadhana" magazine (Prospectus Page 3).
