About the Department
The Department of Philosophy at AK (PG) College is dedicated to the study of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, and mind. The department is led by Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh (M.A., NET) as In-Charge, who also serves as the Convenor of the B.A. Second Year Admission Committee and Chair of the Cultural Programme Committee.
The department offers B.A. (Philosophy) at the undergraduate level with 60 seats. The curriculum covers Indian philosophy (Vedic, Upanishadic, Buddhist, Jain), Western philosophy (Greek, Medieval, Modern), logic, ethics, epistemology, and metaphysics.
Philosophy is an excellent foundation for competitive examinations like UPSC, State PCS, and other civil services. The subject develops critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and ethical decision-making skills highly valued in administration, law, and academia.
