About the Department
The Department of Sanskrit at AK (PG) College is dedicated to preserving and promoting the ancient language of Sanskrit, which is the foundation of Indian culture, philosophy, and knowledge systems. As per the college prospectus, the department is led by Dr. Mukesh Kumar Gupta (M.A., NET, Ph.D.), who serves as the In-Charge of the department.
The department offers B.A. (Sanskrit) at the undergraduate level with 480 seats, and Ph.D. (Sanskrit) for advanced research scholars with 4 seats. The curriculum covers Sanskrit literature (Sahitya), grammar (Vyakaran), poetry (Kavya), drama (Natak), and Vedic studies.
Sanskrit, being the language of ancient Indian scriptures, Vedas, Upanishads, and philosophical texts, holds immense importance in understanding India's rich cultural heritage. The department strives to make this knowledge accessible to students through comprehensive teaching and research programs. The department is part of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities.
